Issue 49: September 29, 2020

Hello Dears,

This week marks the last gasp of September and our inaugural “Monthly Wrap-Up” issue of The Wrap. On the final Tuesday of every month we’ll bring you not only our usual weekly product feature, but a broader look at what we’ve been doing, reading, and wearing over the course of the month.

Read on to see our new fall mask patterns and learn about our new farm-find, author-crush and a killer Rent-the-Runway fall discount. Oh, and be sure to sign up for a spot at our holiday (!!!) shopping pop-up!

Xoxo Candace and Ashley

As we pack away our summer sundresses to make room for cozy sweaters, we’re transitioning our mask game as well – and thank goodness our fall mask offerings are ready just in time. We’ve updated our designs – all made from upcycled materials – in three new patterns: rainbow stripe with a floral lace overlay, a pretty fall plaid with a plaid lace overlay, and a two-tone denim for a more casual option.

For every mask purchased one is donated to someone in need – here’s to sustainable and mission-driven fashion! (Sad that masks count as fashion now. Sigh.)Click here to buy.

Holiday Pop-Up

Our holiday pop-up shopping events are pretty much the best part of our year, and usually they contain treasures we’ve scouted on trips all over Europe, New York, and everywhere in between. This year our “scouting trips” included super-cool and Instagrammable trips to our kitchens, backyards, and everywhere in between…like the basement! But fear not: the power of Zoom means we’ve spent hours in incredible virtual showrooms over the past few months, and to be honest this is our favorite pop-up yet in terms of the assortment we’ve put together.

Between October 13 and November 30, grab some friends (up to 10!!!), bring your holiday shopping list, and join us for an appointment-only shopping experience at our Wesley Heights showroom. This is our happy place, getting even happier as the inventory rolls in, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Click here to book a spot.

Closet Refresher

Look, just because we have nowhere to be doesn’t mean we don’t still love a good outfit. And when it comes to quarantine fashion, budget-friendly pieces, more options, and an overall reduction in our carbon footprints are extra-appealing.

As Rent-the-Runway ambassadors, we have the great fortune to be able to give all of you lovelies an incredible offer for the entire month of October: 40-percent off two months of an 8- or 16-item membership. We look forward to seeing what you find at, you guessed it, our holiday pop-up!

Yes, apple-picking in fall is pretty #basic, but there’s nothing basic about Great Country Farms. How we had lived here for decades and never been is an actual mystery, but now it’s officially on our must-do list each fall. This place is so much more than an apple orchard or pumpkin patch. It has a petting zoo, not only a corn maze but a garden- and bamboo-maze as well, a cow train for the little ones, and a number of play-structures that made our kids’ heads explode with joy. (And, blessedly, tired them out.)

We were inspired by the delicious apple-cider donuts to do some of our own apple-based baking at home, which made our day at the farm the gift that kept on giving.

Get your tickets here; your children will thank you, even if your waistline does not.

And Now for Some Brain Food

We’re always pretty voracious readers, but the Age of COVID has sent us into literary hyperdrive. One of our favorite recent reads is Miracle Creek, by Angie Kim, and when we found out the author was local, we couldn’t resist getting in touch to see if she’d join our book-club to talk about this moving, thought-provoking page-turner. Nothing is as good on Zoom as it is in real life, but we are so grateful to Angie for making this event the exception.

Set against the background of a murder trial and focusing on the events that led to the explosion of a hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) facility owned and operated by a Korean immigrant family, this debut novel is a marvel – as was Angie herself.

Buy Miracle Creek here.
