Hello Dears,

Thank you for tuning in to this week’s edition of The Wrap

We’re planning and prepping this week, and have some exciting dates to put on your radar for the upcoming months. You’ll find our schedule for spring pop-ups below, along with a round-up of some favorite items from the New York Now and Shoppe Object gift shows.

If things work out, you’ll be able to shop a selection of these goodies at our spring pop-up events. We’ll be buying and merchandising additional product over the next month or two, so stay tuned (@SecretlyGifting) for sneak peeks of the décor pieces, accessories, and home furnishings that make the cut.

If you’ve never shopped with us at a pop-up event, now is the time to pencil these dates into your calendar! The in-person experience is a fantastic way to socialize, scoop up amazing gifts for yourself, family and friends, and discover the latest and greatest emerging makers and designers from all over the world.

We’ll be hosting an east coast pop-up in Washington DC, and two west coast pop-ups at special locations (details coming soon!) in Southern California…so spread the word to anyone who might like to join you for an afternoon of shopping, light bites, and mingling.

Finally, we’re featuring Georgetown mainstay, Tuckernuck, in our “Local Spotlight” column this week! Tuckernuck has always been a favorite place to stock up on elevated staples like cashmere sweaters, button down shirts, and swingy sundresses in an endless palette of bright colors and fun prints…but their recent expansion into home décor has been a total game changer!

We love their thoughtful and considered selection of entertaining essentials and whimsical furnishings, which add the perfect pop of style to any home or vacation home. Be sure to continue reading below for an SG-approved gift pick you can grab locally at Tuckernuck’s flagship boutique or online!

As always, if there’s a local business you’d like to put on our radar, please email us with details at info@secretlygifting.com...it could be our next “Local Spotlight” feature. We look forward to hearing from you!

Save The Date: Spring Pop-Ups are Coming!

Get out your calendars and day planners because our schedule of spring events is here, and you won’t want to miss your chance to shop with us a one of these exclusive gatherings!

April 16th: Washington, DC

April 27th: Newport Beach, California

April 28th: Los Angeles, California

“Pop-Ups” are our signature in-person shopping events that take place 2-3 times per year at a private home or residence. We call them “pop-ups” because we procure the merchandise and set-up shop at a special location, literally “popping up” with a shopping experience overnight.

What do we sell? You can expect a fabulous selection of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces from artists and makers all over the world…home furnishings, accessories, paper goods, décor objects, tableware, and everything in between. We source these items straight from the designers when we visit gift shows throughout the year in places like New York and Paris.

When buying for a pop-up event, we look for items with special details and stories behind them, and assign bonus points when they are of limited quantity, or part of an exclusive capsule collection. We’re also price sensitive, and we look for a good mix of splurge-worthy gifts and affordable wares that won’t break the bank.

We’ll have a wonderful selection of "highly giftable" items for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, teacher appreciation, and every occasion in between at the pop-ups in April and May, so it’s the perfect time to get your spring shopping done in one fell swoop!

Stay tuned for details on timing and location soon -- keep your eye on your email inbox and our Instagram account (@SecretlyGifting) for announcements and updates!

Favorites from Two New York Gift Shows!

If you’ve been following our travels, you know we recently hit New York City for two of our favorite scouting events of the year – the NY Now gift show and Shoppe Object. Today, we’re excited to share some of our favorite finds from both shows, below!

Both of these events draw thousands of vendors and buyers from all over the globe, and showcase a truly remarkable selection of design-inspired wares from independent artists and makers. If you’d like to order one of these pieces, feel free to email us today ...otherwise, stay tuned to see which items make it to our east and west coast spring pop-up events!

BoySmells 600.jpg

1. Boy Smells Limited Edition Candles

Hand poured in Los Angeles, these beeswax and coconut oil candles release richly scented fragrances from organic essential oil blends like rosemary, frankincense, pink peppercorn and iris. We’re especially partial to the candy-colored glass tumblers of these “Pride Collection” candles, which you can re-use once you’ve reached the candle’s 50-hour burn time.

Beaded Clutch 600.jpg

2. “Hello My Name Is” Beaded Clutch

These crystal beaded clutches come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and patterns, but we love the tongue-in-cheek messaging of this “Ms. Blesd” name tag design! Carry it to a party or for a night out on the town, and prepare to let your bag do the talking.

Hazy Mae Cookie Jars.jpg

3. Hazy Mae Ceramic Cookie Jars

If kitchenware was scored on charm and personality, these imaginative glazed ceramic cookie jars by Hazy Mae would be off the charts! Each piece is hand-painted and made to order, meaning no two jars are exactly the same. Whether you fill yours with Oreos, shortbread, or snickerdoodles, you’re guaranteed to turn heads with one of these remarkable centerpieces.

The cherry on top of this fabulous trip? We met up with the lovely and hyper talented jewelry designer, Mignonne Gavigan, a long-time friend and supporter of Secretly Gifting.

Click here to shop Mignonne’s iconic black and gold “Madeline” earring in The Gift Vault, and besure to follow her team on Instagram (@MignonneGavigan) for exclusive jewelry drops, event announcements, and special design collaborations.

Local Spotlight: Tuckernuck

Welcome to our brand-new column highlighting our favorite businesses in the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia area! The purpose of this addition is to feature shops, entrepreneurs, and companies that you can feel great about supporting within our local community. As a bonus, we’ll showcase a “highly giftable” item we love, which you can find by calling, shopping in-store, or perhaps even online.

When Tuckernuck opened on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown during the fall of 2016, lines immediately formed out of the door of this fabulous men’s and womens-wear boutique.

Founder Jocelyn Gailliot focused on stocking the store with under the radar labels like Saint James and Emerson Fry, making it a destination for shoppers who wanted elevated versions of their favorite classic wardrobe staples.

In recent years, however, Tuckernuck has expanded its offerings to include an eclectic mix of furnishings and décor items in its “home and gift” shop. Whether you’re looking for coffee table books, table linens, or colorful serveware, Tuckernuck has got you covered…we especially love their thoughtful selection of items for baby and kids as well!

One of our favorite quick and easy gifts to suggest for expectant couples and new moms is the “Baby Book” a distinctive memory book designed and crafted by DC's own Lou Lou Baker

This whimsical keepsake is bound with a Japanese Asahi cloth cover and filled with colorful watercolor animal motifs painted by Lou Lou herself.

Whether it’s used as a journal or a scrapbook, this unique book will most assuredly become a treasured family heirloom. Pick yours up in-store or online today at Tuckernuck!
