Hello Dears,

We hope that you had a lovely Mother’s Day weekend! We were treated to breakfast in bed and afternoon tea with our little ones, the perfect ending to a sweet and sunny Springtime weekend.

Your positive response to our social media coverage of Medium Rare Restaurant’s “Sunday Brunch for Elderly Moms” campaign last Friday confirmed that we must continue to focus on the companies and causes using their platforms to do good in the midst of adversity right now!

Medium Rare (@mediumrareDC) is a Washington steakhouse that’s been delivering meals to children, hospital workers, and elderly adults throughout the COVID-19 crisis. True to form, their heartwarming Mother’s Day gesture involved pairing cheerful handcrafted cards from local elementary school students with fresh flowers and brunch delivery. Could there be a sweeter way to celebrate isolated grandmothers in quarantine?

We were likewise delighted to see so many of you tag us in photos of your gifts to mothers, mother-in-laws, teachers, and girlfriends last week! We sold out of our limited release watercolor stationary, custom tote bags, and sequined earrings…but it was our personalized rainbow bead bracelets that recieved attention from Fox 5 News this past Saturday! (clip below).

We must also give a well-deserved shoutout to our favorite news anchor and podcasting queen, Angie Goff (you’re the best, Angie!) for making it happen, and inviting us to join her on the “Oh My Goff Show” podcast just in time for Mother’s Day. We were humbled to share celebratory inspiration and charming gift ideas for deserving mothers everywhere! You'll find a link to the episode on iTunes below.

Finally, we invite you to mark your calendars for next Tuesday, May 19th as we’ll be releasing a new collection of summer inspired goodies for you to shop! Instagram friends will receive first access to the collection, so be sure you’re following us (@SecretlyGifting) for exclusive details. With so many bright colors and fun details, this assortment of spring/summer items and accessories may be our favorite collection yet…stay tuned for details!

Secretly Gifting on Fox 5 News DC

Angie Goff is a fixture in DC’s broadcast news world for good reason: she’s the perfect combination of witty, articulate, and intelligent. And her weekly podcast, The Oh My Goff Show, is no different…except that it incorporates an extra dose of quirk and entertainment!

So, when Angie (an enthusiastic SG supporter) invited us to record a podcast episode, we jumped at the chance, and we’re excited to share it with you today! You can listen to the full episode here (we’re on at 20:22) and catch Angie’s plug in the Fox 5 news clip below.

The Fox 5 news crew also gave us a sweet shoutout on Saturday for the rainbow beaded bracelet trend we helped popularize for Mother’s Day this year! Whether outfitted with a phrase like “Best Mom Ever” or “Mama Bear”, these cheerful bracelets combine homemade charm with the nostalgic style of decades past. Enjoy the quick clip below.

Local Spotlight: Medium Rare Restaurant

This week we're applauding Medium Rare (@MediumRareDC) on their continued efforts to care for those who have needed it most throughout the COVID-19 crisis! They committed to remaining open for delivery back in March when most restaurants shuttered immediately.

But, Medium Rare didn't stay open simply to collect orders from paying customers...instead, owner Mark Bucher embarked on a mission to feed vulnerable populations all over the DMV area. And quarantined seniors haven't been the only beneficiaries of his good deeds: Bucher expanded his campaign over the ensuing weeks to deliver dinners to hungry children and needy families as well as frontline medical workers and hospital staff

We were utterly impressed and touched by Medium Rare's Mother's Day delivery campaign, and we wholeheartedly recommend ordering takeout to help support the restaurant's continued efforts. We hear their steak frites is out of this world!
