Happy Holidays!
Oh come on. Halloween is over, it's dark by mid-afternoon...if you're not testing Thanksgiving pie recipes and dreaming of holiday decorations, WTF are you doing? (Other than working, homeschooling your children, panic-reading news headlines and, you know, surviving??)
This week we're bringing you some much-needed cheer by introducing these gorgeous ornaments, hand-made by local, Alexandria-based artist Meg Birman. Read below for more details slash eye-candy.
Xoxo
Candace and Ashley
This rainbow-leopard print is an exclusive collaboration between Meg and Secretly Gifting. We've been inspired by her work for years -- she's a contemporary artist focusing on painting, collage, and sculpture, who also paints commercial and residential murals. Plus, she works with brands and businesses -- like ours! -- on creative products such as this.
We’re also featuring her “evil-eye” print. Don’t try to tell us it won’t come in handy for Holidays 2020. Please.
Local Spotlight
We told you a few weeks ago about Educare DC, an early-childhood education nonprofit in DC’s Ward 7. Educare provides high-quality, wrap-around early-learning and family services to 424 children and their families. As a Head Start program, Educare serves families who are experiencing poverty and may struggle with challenges related to meeting their basic needs — such as cold-weather gear.
Please help Educare ensure that all its students are warm this winter by participating in its winter-wear drive, running now through the end of the month. Coats, hats, scarves, and warm shoes will be distributed to families, based on their needs. You can check out the Amazon wish list here and purchase needed supplies, which will be shipped directly to recipients: tinyurl.com/EDCWinterDrive.
We remain so grateful for our generous readers. xoxo
